At Glen Burnie Used Appliances, we have a wide array of used stoves for you to choose from.

Like the name suggests, they use natural gas as a source of energy. They are reliable as you can use them with or without electricity. The latter would require a match to light the burners.  Gas stoves are comprised of a cooktop and an oven most of the time. They usually have a gas oven but can be electric which makes it a dual fuel stove. Depending on personal preference, you may opt for a gas stove with an electric or a gas oven; whichever works best for you. The dual fuel stoves are not as common.

Gas Stove Features

• At least four burners. More advanced models boast of up to 6 burners.
• Ovens have at least two racks. Other models have up to 3 racks or even two ovens.
• Removable stove top griddle.
• Self-cleaning ovens available.
• Mostly available in black, white or stainless steel.

Advantages of Gas Stoves

• More affordable than electric stoves to operate. Often 10-30%.
• Instant heating, no waiting for burner to heat up
• You have options to toast or char food unlike electric ones
• They can be used during power blackouts
• The heat can be finely controlled
• The grates over the burners are made from metal and therefore durable. No worries about scratching the stove top

Disadvantages of Gas Stoves

• Increased risk due to an open flame or gas leaks.
• Possibly more expensive to install if you need to run a gas line.
• Adjustable heat makes it difficult to use the same heat setting each time.
• According to some people, gas stoves are harder to clean
• The natural gas has a bad odor.

Cooking Suggestion: To ensure proper use of the gas stove, make sure the burner stays completely at the bottom of your saucepan. A bigger burner may be counter-effective as most of the flame will be outside the pot/pan.
